DJI Drone Update and NEPA Drone Operations

NEPA Drone flies DJI drones.

DJI aircraft are the industry standard for professional aerial imaging, mapping, inspection, and public service work. They are widely used across the United States by licensed pilots, businesses, and emergency response professionals.

As of December 2025, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) added foreign made drones and critical components including DJI to the FCC Covered List. This action is in effect.

What This Means in Plain Terms

The FCC decision blocks new DJI products and components from receiving future FCC authorization. Without that authorization, new DJI drones cannot be legally imported or approved for sale in the U.S. going forward.

This action does not ground existing drones and does not prohibit current operations.

What Has NOT Changed

• NEPA Drone’s DJI aircraft are legal to own and operate
• All flights continue under FAA Part 107 regulations
• Existing DJI drones already in the U.S. remain authorized to fly
• Millions of DJI drones are still operating nationwide
• No technical finding has determined that existing DJI drones pose an active security threat

If these aircraft were unsafe, they would not still be permitted to operate across the country.

Our Position

NEPA Drone uses DJI equipment because it delivers reliability, safety, accuracy, and proven performance. We operate transparently, follow all FAA requirements, and adapt responsibly to regulatory changes as facts evolve.

Client services are not impacted.

Questions and Answers

Are your drones legal to fly?

Yes. All DJI drones currently operated by NEPA Drone are legal and compliant with FAA Part 107 regulations.

Will my project be affected?

No. This regulatory action does not interrupt existing operations, scheduled flights, or deliverables.

Is DJI banned in the United States?

No. Existing DJI drones are not banned and are still widely used. The restriction applies to future authorizations of new hardware, not aircraft already in service.

Is there a security risk with DJI drones?

To date, no completed federal audit has found existing DJI drones to pose an active national security threat. Millions remain in operation across government, commercial, and public service sectors.

Will your drones stop working?

No. DJI drones already in service do not shut down, deactivate, or lose flight capability due to this action.

What about updates, parts, or long term support?

Future availability of new products and parts may become more limited over time. NEPA Drone actively plans fleet lifecycle management to ensure continuity of service.

Are you switching platforms?

At this time, NEPA Drone continues to operate proven DJI equipment legally in the U.S. We continuously evaluate equipment options based on performance, reliability, and regulatory clarity not speculation.

Will this change how you operate?

No. NEPA Drone remains compliant, insured, and operational. We will adjust only if laws or FAA flight authority change.

Bottom Line

NEPA Drone flies DJI drones legally, responsibly, and transparently.

We focus on facts, not headlines.
